Sundows already feeling pressure? Komphela weighs in on Pirates & Chiefs’ fine start

Mamelodi Sundowns first team coach Steve Komphela feels his team will need to work extra hard to retain their PSL title given Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs’ the good start to the season.

Sundowns have won back-to-back league games against SuperSport United and Marumo Gallants to move to the top of the table but similarly, Pirates and Chiefs have also won their opening two matches, to collect maximum points.

It is still very early in the season to predict how it will end but having the big three at the top is exciting for fans and Komphela feels the Brazilians cannot rest on their laurels.

Komphela wants the Brazilians to raise their game

“We have to keep working because if you look at Orlando Pirates, they are here, Kaizer Chiefs are here so we cannot afford to slip up. We have to work extremely hard,” Kompleha said during a chat with police officers whom he met on the streets.

Komphela was then asked what he thought about Saturday’s game between Sundowns and Chiefs which is likely to experience fireworks given the way both sides have started the campaign.

Who is winning at FNB between Chiefs & Sundowns?

“We are going to FNB, it is a beautiful field and we enjoy beautiful fields,” the former Chiefs coach replied cryptically.

Komphela, however, feels it is important to collect as many points as possible early in the season to stand a chance of being on the winners’ podium at the end of the campaign.

“Where we are, everybody stands a chance of becoming champion, there is enough points for everyone to become champion so Wafa Wafa,” he added.
