Bafana Bafana defender Khulumani Ndamane has shared why he opted against staying at Kaizer Chiefs and moving to TS Galaxy, having starred for Amakhosi’s DDC team.
Ndamane has become one of the bright prospects in South African football with impressive performances for the Rockets which have earned him a place in the Bafana Bafana team.
At just 21, the central defender is already earning rare reviews and has been heavily linked with a transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns but he would be playing for Chiefs had things gone differently.

Ndamane starred for Chiefs’ DDC team in 2023 and by 2024, he joined Galaxy as a free agent, while Given Msimango went the other way.
The defender says there was no fallout that forced him out of Naturena but he was just looking for regular gametime after failing to receive assurances at Chiefs.
“I’m from KZN from a rural area called Sahlumbe. So, my journey, I went to trial at Chiefs I think it was in 2023 I trialled there and they took me [and signed me],” Ndamane told iDiski Times.
“I played in the U19 side and DDC team and from DDC I came here at TS Galaxy. I didn’t do anything wrong [at Chiefs]. My story is different [to Puso Dithejane] . I didn't do anything wrong and nothing bad happened.

“I think as a player, I wanted to grow in football, so playing for the DDC side there I realised that I can do more. Because I didn’t play for the first team didn’t mean I wasn’t good so I was able to come and try my luck here at TS Galaxy.”
Ndamane has so far made 37 appearances for Galaxy, including 10 this season, and has three caps for Bafana Bafana, including two in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
He played 90 minutes as South Africa beat Rwanda 3-0 this month to seal their World Cup ticket and he is remaining confident that he will make the team to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as well as next year’s global tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
