Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Thando Buthelezi has opened up on his loan transfer to Richards Bay FC.

In an effort to gain valuable playing time and potentially break into the Betway Premiership this season, DDC graduate and 21-year-old Brazilian, Buthelezi was moved to the KwaZulu-Natal side at the beginning of the season.

The young talent made a brief appearance for Sundowns in the 2022/23 Nedbank Cup, but has since been seeking regular first-team football.

He's expressed optimism about his move to Natal Rich Boyz, particularly given the trust of coach Brandon Truter.

THANDO BUTHELEZI HAPPY FOR BEING TRUSTED BY TRUTER

“The coach trusts me but obviously I have to adjust to the style of play at Richards Bay because this where I am right now,” said Buthelezi.

“This is where I am and I must play the way they want me to play. If the chance to play comes up [I have to show up].”

Buthelezi says he’s eager to seize this opportunity, prove his worth, and return to Sundowns a better player.

BUTHELEZI HOPING TO GET MORE GAME TIME

“He’s pushing me a lot because as much as I left home [parent club], there’s someone who trusts me and who admires the way I play,” he added.

“So, I just hope that I get more minutes so that I can go back home.”
