Tashreeq Morris: Forgotten Chiefs striker wanted by PSL club

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris could be on the move again less than one season after joining the Glamour Boys.

Morris joined Chiefs in the January transfer window to bolster what was a blunt attack, linking up with coach Nasreddine Nabi’s team from SuperSport United (now Siwelele FC), but things have not gone well for him at Naturena.

This is because in 10 games, nine in the league, Morris is yet to score while he has also been hampered by injuries and there is a feeling that Chiefs got it wrong with his signing.

Morris is yet to play since May, having not made the squad in the five matches played so far this season, and with Chiefs adding two strikers in this window with others still linked with the club, he will likely find gametime hard to come by.

Which club is keen on Morris?

However, it appears there could be an escape route for Morris following reports that Durban City are interested in him, a deal that would see him reunited with his former coach at SuperSport Gavin Hunt.

According to iDiski Times, Hunt has enquired about the possibility of signing Morris to boost his strike force with City keen on a loan deal that can be turned permanent if the striker impresses in Durban.

City are currently relying on Joslin Kamatuka and Jean Lwamba for goals this season but they need more options to avoid a season of struggle following their promotion to the PSL with the team managing to score four goals in their first five matches of the new campaign.

Hunt took a chance on Morris when he signed the striker as a free agent last October and he had scored two goals in two months before Chiefs came calling with the player allowed to move to the capital after a big-money offer from Amakhosi.
