Percy Tau on target as Al Ahly put six past Khanyisa Mayo’s CR Belouizdad

Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau was among the scorers as Al Ahly thrashed Khanyisa Mayo’s CR Belouizdad 6-1 in their CAF Champions League match on Sunday to move to the top of their group.

Tau did not start the game but was introduced after 42 minutes following an injury to Reda Slim and by the time he arrived, the Egyptian giants were already trailing 1-0, thanks to Aimen Mahious’ 21st minute goal.

That goal woke up the beast in Al Ahly, who showed why they are the defending champions, Wessam Abou Ali bagging a hat-trick, the first of which arrived on the stroke of halftime.

Percy Tau put the gloss on the score line

After the break, Ali netted his and Al Ahly’s second in the 52nd minute, before Hussein El Shahat made it 3-1 four minutes later, and even a host of substitutes from the Algerian side did not make any difference.

Mayo was among those taken off by Belouizdad in the 70th minute but it did not change the course of the game as Ali completed his hat-trick six minutes from time.

That gave way for Tau’s goal, the Bafana Bafana forward profiting from a good pass from Karim El Debes to hammer the ball home on the edge of the box after which Emam Ashour completed the rout in stoppage time.
