Thembinkosi Lorch’s great form for Moroccan giants Wydad AC continued as he provided a brilliant assist on Friday in their 1-0 win over Tanzanian side Azam FC.
Lorch, who had been in great form for Wydad with five goals and three assists, before Friday’s CAF Confederation Cup group stage match against Azam.
He made it four assists for the season in his 11th match when he supplied the ammunition for Nordin Amrabat to score the lone goal as Wydad beat Azam 1-0 in Dar es Salaam to take command of their group as they have now won back-to-back games.
Wydad, who beat Kenyan side Nairobi United 3-0 last weekend, have also scored four goals while not conceding and they are staying true to their favourites’ tag given they are one of the top teams contesting Africa’s second tier club football prize.
Lorch showing Broos what he is missing
Lorch continues to make his presence felt even with his exclusion from the Bafana Bafana team by coach Hugo Broos who snubbed him when announcing his preliminary team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker made a permanent move to Wydad ahead of this season after impressing initially on a six-month loan, having fallen down the pecking order at the PSL giants.
It was the second straight assist for Nyoso in the competition after also setting up Ayoub Boucheta for Wydad’s first goal against Nairobi United.
Lorch now has four goal contributions in three Confederation Cup games, having scored against Asante Kotoko set up another one in the same match, before his last two assists.
