Recently, AmaZulu signed former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zwane and Sandile Mthethwa who was released by Orlando Pirates a couple of days ago.
Zwane has been a free agent since his exit from Masandawana after the end of the 2023/24 season. He helped the Brazilians win back-to-back Premier Soccer League titles and the African Football League crowns in the two years he was at the club.
Mthethwa struggled for game-time at the Sea Robbers after failing to convince Jose Riveiro that he could be a vital player for his team.
Ahead of the January Transfer Window, Usuthu acted and brought them on board. The club's co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has since justified the logic behind the two signings.
AmaZulu have a lot of youngsters & needed Zungu and Mthethwa
“They are definitely going to be a good addition to our setup, they will have a huge impact but obviously they are aware that they’ve joined a moving train,” Vilakazi told the media.
“It’s like we are starting from a stretch so the competition is at the highest level for them to breakthrough but we believe in them that’s why they are here and we also believe that their experience will help us a lot.
“We have a lot of youngsters that we need to make sure that they gain experience through them so they’ve got a bigger part to play in terms of the setup, not only to play but also to make sure we integrate the youngsters to be at the level where we want them to be,” Vilakazi added.
“We are grateful for their signing, we are grateful to the president for responding in that manner and we are looking forward to working with Mthethwa and Zungu.”
Zungu and Mthethwa might make their debuts on Tuesday when AmaZulu host Mamelodi Sundowns in the PSL outing.
