The 2024/25 South African season will officially kick off this weekend with the MTN8 quarter final games.

Defending champions Orlando Pirates will host SuperSport United at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday with Carling Knockout winners Stellenbosch facing runners-up TS Galaxy a day later at the Danie Craven.

The Caf Confederation Cup representatives Sekhukhune United will have to get past Cape Town City at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, August 10, as Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns entertain Polokwane City at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the last quarter-final game next Sunday.

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs will be watching from the sidelines after failing to qualify by virtue of finishing 10th on the PSL table.

Amakhosi played several games abroad, but they shared the results of their last two games – a 5-2 win over Al-Shahaniya and a goalless draw with Dibba Al-Hisn. Their most recent outing was at home in the Toyota Cup, a game they lost 4-0 against Yanga sc.

The Brazilians had a mixed outing in Austria, they were beaten 3-0 by German third-tier side SV Sandhausen before another 1-0 loss to Dynamo Kyiv. After a 1-1 draw with Cardiff, the PSL side defeated Al Arabi 3-0 and Al Hilal 2-1 respectively to end their overseas tour on a high note.

The Sea Robbers were in Spain where they drew 2-2 with Plymouth Argyle, beat Sevilla 2-0, and shared spoils with Granada after a 1-1 draw before losing 3-2 against Al Sadd. Last weekend, they beat Mbabane Highlanders 5-0 before claiming another 3-2 win over Bravos do Maquis.
