Magesi FC are set to play Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League fixture on Wednesday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The league's newbies shocked Mzansi a couple of days ago after eliminating Orlando Pirates from the Carling Knockout with a 3-2 win at the Orlando Stadium.
Coach Clinton Larsen has conceded his team does not have enough depth like the other teams and the players have to be taken care of well to remain productive. The tactician further claims they don't train on Monday and Tuesday to ensure the players remain fit.
Amakhosi are desperate for maximum points after back-to-back PSL losses against Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United respectively.
Magesi's immediate task is to take three points against Kaizer Chiefs
“Without the depth in our squad, that’s why earlier on I spoke about the work our fitness coach is doing,” Larsen told the media.
“We have to rely on this core group of players to carry us through this period, so, they going to have to go again.
“Hopefully, we can manage the minutes in the next game against Kaizer Chiefs and save some legs for that cup game but we can’t put preference from one over the other. If there’s a possibility to get a point or three against Chiefs, that’s our most immediate task, what happens in the cup, we will face when the time comes.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have the depth, but we want to win each game, so, we going to try out to put our strongest team. We’ve got great medical staff that can get the boys to recover, Monday and Tuesday we don’t train at all so that we can reload those batteries for Wednesday against Kaizer Chiefs.”
Magesi will play TS Galaxy this weekend in the Carling Knockout quarter-final as Kaizer Chiefs host Mamelodi Sundowns.
