Former Kaizer Chiefs star Khanyisa Mayo believes his son Khanyisa Mayo will deliver at CR Belouizdad.
The 26-year-old Bafana Bafana international struggled to settle in Algeria but from the recent displays, it seems he has managed to get his footing. He didn't score in the initial eight matches for his team which affected his confidence.
However, the former Cape Town City attacker who was hunted by Mamelodi Sundowns and the Glamour Boys before leaving for North Africa, has scored two goals in the last three matches across all competitions.
The forward's father Patrick Mayo is happy with the progress his son is making in a foreign country, believing more will come from him if he retains his current fitness levels.
Mayo is coming up nicely
“I’m happy for him [Khanyisa Mayo] with how he has performed so far because it’s not an easy move from Cape Town City FC to Algeria,” he told Far Post.
“I spoke to him before he went to Algeria and told him that he must work very hard. The game in Algeria is completely different from the SA league, for me, I think it’s very physical.
“But I think he’s coming up nicely there; he’s adapting very well and progressing well, and we speak frequently on the phone. I’m happy that he’s been injury-free ever since he moved to Algeria. As long as he’s getting those opportunities to play, he will get back to his best form,” he concluded.
Mayo is making his debut in the Caf Champions League and hopes CR Belouizdad will be among the top two teams to make it to the next phase.
