Will Chiefs challenge for 2025/26 league title? Nabi responds

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed whether they are planning to challenge for the Betway Premiership title in the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Having guided Amakhosi to end their ten-year trophy drought with a Nedbank Cup victory last season, Nabi's team is now focused on competing for more silverware across a packed schedule that includes the league, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout Cup, and the Nedbank Cup.

It's a significant period for the Phefeni Glamour Boys, whose last league triumph came in the 2014/15 season under Stuart Baxter, when it was still known as the ABSA Premiership.

During a media interaction on Friday at Princess Magogo Stadium, ahead of Saturday's Toyota Cup encounter against Asante Kotoko at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Nabi was directly asked if the club harbors intentions of fighting for the Betway Premiership title this season.

He responded by outlining a clear, disciplined approach: the club will address each game individually, dedicating maximum effort to achieve positive results.

In essence, the Soweto giants are poised to fight relentlessly for success in every competition they enter.

‘MAYBE IT IS POSSIBLE’

Nabi elaborated on his philosophy: “How we are approaching this season, not the league only, with the league, Nedbank and CAF Confederation Cup, we want to take game by game.

“We want to do everything we can in every game to win that game. Of course, maybe it's not going to be possible to win all the games, maybe it will be possible.

“We're gonna challenge for every game in whatever capabilities that we will be in to challenge for every game. And then after that, we will see where we stand.”
