The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is strengthening his team hoping to have a better outing in the 2024/25 season.
Morocco heavyweights Wydad Athletic Club have confirmed they might bid for Al Ahly's wantaway attacker Percy Tau.
The South Africa international fell out with coach Marcel Koller and has since hinted he is keen on leaving the Red Devils. Wydad AC coach has since revealed he will be delighted to have the 30-year-old in his squad.
Premier Soccer League side Kaizer Chiefs are among the teams linked with the established and versatile attacker.
Why Wydad AC want Tau
In his recent interview with Kora Plus, the Red Castle official Saad Drib stated his team would be happy to have the Bafana Bafana player in their squad.
“We are in a phase of renewing Wydad’s squad, and we are looking for experienced players to replace those who have left, like Yahya Jabrane, Ayoub El Amloud, and Yahia Attiyat Allah,” he stated.
“A player like Percy Tau, among others, is of course someone we are interested in signing.”
What has Tau achieved at Al Ahly?
Last season, Tau played just 10 Egyptian Premier League games but still scored seven goals. He was unhappy with his coach for leaving him out of the squad that played Smouha, a game the newly crowned champions won by a solitary goal.
In the 2023/24 campaign, the 30-year-old made 33 appearances for his team across all competitions with a return of nine goals as his team secured a treble and claimed a bronze in the Club World Cup.
After joining Al Ahly from Brighton & Hove Albion in the 2021/22 season, Tau has managed to win 10 major titles
Tau bagged two Caf Champions League titles under his name, Caf Super Cup, two Egyptian Premier Leagues, three Egyptian Super Cups, and two Egypt Cups.
