Abdullahi Bewene: 4 clubs Super Eagles RB could join from Banik Ostrava

Super Eagles defender Abdullahi Bewene could leave Banik Ostrava this summer as interest continues to grow across Europe for his signature, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, establishing himself as one of the club’s key players with a series of impressive performances.

Bewene made 38 appearances across all competitions as Banik Ostrava finished third in the Czech top flight, and his consistent displays earned him a first competitive call up to the Super Eagles from head coach Eric Chelle.

He made his Nigeria debut in the 2-2 draw against Poland in June, producing an impressive performance at right back, before featuring again in the 2-1 defeat to Portugal a few days later.

His performances at both club and international level have now placed him firmly on the radar of clubs across Europe, with his future becoming a major talking point as the summer transfer window enters its closing weeks.

Abdullahi Bewene attracting strong interest

According to representative of the Super Eagles defender, several clubs in France and Belgium have already made enquiries about signing the defender.

Despite the growing speculation, Bewene has remained focused on Banik Ostrava, featuring in both of the club’s opening Czech league matches this season, with one win and one defeat.

“Abdullahi has attracted a lot of interest from clubs in France and Belgium since making his Nigeria debut,” Mohammed said, via Footy-Africa.

“If you watched the game, you would have seen how well he performed. It was not a surprise to us because we know his quality, but that performance has certainly prompted several clubs to make enquiries about him.

“I can confirm that there have been discussions, but we want to ensure he joins the right club for his continued development because he is still a young player with plenty of room to grow. The Czech league has already started, but I am sure Banik Ostrava will be open to listening to suitable offers for him”, he concluded.

Four clubs the Super Eagles star could join

With interest continuing to grow, these four clubs appear to be among the strongest possible destinations for the versatile Nigerian defender.

1. Club Brugge

Belgian champions Club Brugge are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing Abdullahi Bewene this summer. The reigning Belgian champions are keen to strengthen their squad as they prepare to defend their league title while also competing in the UEFA Champions League.

Bewene’s versatility makes him an attractive option. Although he is naturally a right back, he is also capable of playing in midfield and on the right wing.

His attacking qualities and pace would fit well into Club Brugge’s style and at 21, it means he still has plenty of room to develop.

2. KAA Gent

Another Belgian side strongly linked with the Super Eagles defender is KAA Gent. They are also looking to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season and view Bewene as a player capable of improving their defensive options.

Having already gained regular first team experience in the Czech Republic, the Nigerian defender has shown that he can perform consistently at a high level and his arrival would give Gent another quality option on the right side of the pitch.

3. Slavia Prague

Czech champions Slavia Prague are also considered one of the favourites should they decide to intensify their interest.

A move within the Czech league could prove to be an ideal next step for Bewene because he is already familiar with the competition and the overall environment.

He would require little time to settle, allowing him to compete immediately for a place in the starting team while also giving him the opportunity to play regularly in European competitions.

4. Le Havre

French Ligue 1 side Le Havre have also emerged as a possible destination after showing interest in recent days. A move to France would represent a major step up in Bewene’s career and provide him with greater exposure in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Regular football in Ligue 1 could also improve his chances of becoming a consistent member of Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles squad.

Banik Ostrava are open to selling the Nigerian defender if their valuation is met before the transfer window closes.

With interest coming from several clubs across Europe, Bewene appears to have several strong options available. 

Wherever he ends up, a move away from Banik Ostrava looks increasingly likely, with the Super Eagles defender now emerging as one of Nigeria’s most exciting young talents on the European transfer market.
