Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman finally found the back of the net after a seven-game drought, scoring in Atalanta’s comfortable 4-0 win away to Monza in Serie A on Sunday.

Atalanta started brightly and got their reward in the 12th minute when Belgian midfielder Charles De Ketelaere opened the scoring with a fine finish.

The former AC Milan man then doubled the lead in the 34th minute to put Atalanta firmly in control.

The first half ended 2-0 in favour of the visitors, who looked sharp and dangerous every time they went forward.

After the break, Lookman nearly got on the scoresheet early in the second half but couldn’t convert his first chance.

However, the Nigerian wasn’t to be denied. Just two minutes into the half, he latched onto a clever headed pass from Atalanta’s top scorer Mateo Retegui and calmly slotted in his side’s third goal of the night.

It was Lookman's 14th goal of the season in Serie A, an all-time high for the player in a league since his senior debut.

Marco Brescianini, who came on for Lookman then rounded off the scoring with a fourth in the 89th minute to cap off a good road trip for Atalanta

Lookman scored Atalanta’s third goal of the night and was a constant threat on the left. He had one shot on target which he buried and another that went off target.

The Super Eagles winger was successful in three out of five dribbles and made two key passes, completing 22 of his 31 attempted passes, which gave him a pass accuracy of 71 percent.

He was quite active in the final third, delivering 10 crosses with two reaching a teammate. Of the three long balls he played, only one was successful.

In duels, Lookman was solid on the ground. He won five out of the eight ground duels he engaged in. He did not contest any aerial challenges, but more than made up for it with his movement and work rate.
