Ademola Lookman linked with shock Inter Milan move just months after Atletico Madrid switch

Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman has been tipped for a blockbuster return to Serie A with Inter Milan, Afrik-Foot reports.

Last summer, Inter Milan were heavily interested in signing Lookman from Atalanta. They were ready to offer €40 million, but the Serie A giants insisted on a fee in the region of €50 million—a figure the Nerazzurri were unwilling to pay.

That impasse caused a fallout between Lookman and Atalanta, leading to the Nigerian attacker going on strike.

Eventually, he settled his differences with the club at the end of the transfer window and returned to action.

Lookman finally secured a move during the January transfer window, joining La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in a deal worth €35 million plus €5 million in performance-based bonuses.

The Nigerian has had a great start to life in Madrid, boasting a solid record of five goals and four assists in 15 appearances. Coach Diego Simeone has taken a liking to him, featuring him in Atleti’s biggest games since his arrival.

Lookman currently has a contract that runs until the summer of 2030, but there is a slight chance that he returns to Serie A with Inter this summer.

Why Ademola Lookman Might Return To Inter Milan

According to Italian football expert Paolo Paganini, there is a possibility that Inter Milan will try again to sign Ademola Lookman from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

This interest persists because Marcus Thuram and Nicolò Barella have been heavily linked with exits. Thuram is a target for Saudi Pro League clubs, while Barella has been linked with Liverpool, Newcastle, Real Madrid, and other top European sides. It appears the Inter Milan board is willing to do business if the right offers arrive.

If these stars leave Inter, Paganini reckons the former Serie A champions could seriously consider a move for Lookman. They remain big admirers of the Nigerian, and his form at Atleti proves he still has the quality to deliver on the biggest stage.

However, snapping up the Super Eagle will be no easy task. Atleti will definitely demand a fee higher than the €50 million that Inter refused to pay just eight months ago.

Even though Lookman looks happy in Madrid at the moment, the prospect of a return to Italy—a country he understands better than Spain—would be enticing, especially if the Nerazzurri offer a lucrative contract.
