Ademola Lookman’s nuclear reaction as Atalanta turn down generous second Inter offer

Reigning CAF Player of the Year Ademola Lookman has not taken kindly to the latest development concerning his desired transfer to Inter.

The beaten UEFA Champions League finalists tabled a €45 million bid, inclusive of add-ons, to Atalanta earlier this week, their second attempt to reach an agreement with La Dea this summer.

However, the Bergamo club turned it down, and remain reluctant to shift from their €50 million valuation. This has led Lookman to take what can only be described as an extreme measure, finally acceding to pressure from Inter to force a move away.

How has Lookman responded to Inter’s rejected transfer offer?

We earlier reported that the player had excused himself from the squad to Germany for preseason. That, however, was reportedly due to injury. This time, the Nigeria international has removed Atalanta from his bios on social media.

In addition, Lookman has also scrubbed all traces of the club from his posts, a fact made more noticeable by the presence of posts not only of the Super Eagles, but also of his time at former club Leicester City.

It is an unfortunate turn of events for a player who has cemented his status as a modern day Atalanta legend. His hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen earned La Dea their first-ever trophy, and he has been the club’s player of the season for two years running.
