Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman is no longer the most valuable African player in the Spanish La Liga, Afrik-Foot reports.
When Lookman landed at Atletico Madrid in January, the former Atalanta man came with a €40 million valuation that powered him to the top of the La Liga rankings for African stars. However, that has changed with the arrival of Yan Diomande at Real Madrid pushing the Ivorian youngster to the top of the latest standings.
Still, Nigeria winger Lookman sits among the division’s financial elite alongside three other Super Eagles stars.
Transfermarkt’s latest valuation list puts four Nigerian players among Africa’s 30 most valuable footballers in Spain’s top flight, with Lookman joined by Christantus Uche, Chidera Ejuke and Umar Sadiq.

Lookman’s €40 million valuation places him joint-second in Africa, alongside Senegal and Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye. Only Real Madrid’s teenage sensation Yan Diomande is ahead of them, with the Ivory Coast forward valued at €90m.
Diomande’s remarkable valuation comes only weeks after Real Madrid completed his move from RB Leipzig, tying the 19-year-old to the Spanish giants until June 2033. He has already featured in La Liga this season, including a substitute appearance in Madrid’s 2-1 victory at Espanyol on August 22.
Lookman, meanwhile, has quickly become an important attacking option for Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid. The Nigerian has started six of his seven league appearances this season, accumulating 460 minutes and scoring once.
Getafe’s Uche joins Lookman

Uche is Nigeria’s second-highest representative in La Liga at €12m, putting the Getafe midfielder joint-12th among African players.
The 23-year-old has yet to play a minute in La Liga this season due to injury, despite entering the campaign as one of Getafe’s most valuable assets.
His valuation reflects the rapid rise that followed his breakthrough season in Spain. Uche joined Getafe from AD Ceuta in 2024 after playing 34 regular-season matches and two promotion play-off games in Primera Federación.
Ejuke and Sadiq complete Nigeria’s quartet

Chidera Ejuke and Umar Sadiq occupy joint-22nd place among African La Liga players, with both valued at €4m.
Ejuke has already made an impact for Sevilla this term, scoring against Athletic Club in a 3-1 victory on August 22 before continuing to feature mainly as a substitute.
Sadiq, meanwhile, has returned to Valencia on a contract running until June 2028 after scoring six goals in 19 appearances following his January 2025 arrival. He has one goal from three La Liga appearances this season.
