Adeyemi to Barcelona transfer news – 2 Nigerians who can replace him at BVB

Published on by

Karim Adeyemi is on the verge of completing a move to Barcelona, with the German international winger pushing to leave Borussia Dortmund after the Spanish giants submitted an offer, Afrik Foot reports.

The 24-year-old has been one of Dortmund’s most important attacking weapons since he arrived from RB Salzburg in 2022, combining his blistering pace and an eye for goal to become a household name in the Bundesliga.

His performances have attracted interest from across Europe, but Barcelona are the first club to submit a formal offer for the German International born to a Nigerian father.

Adeyemi is determined to make the move, and according to Mundo Deportivo, a deal is considered imminent.

The development leaves Dortmund facing a recruitment challenge that is both urgent.

Adeyemi’s profile: a player full of running that can produce goals and set them up is difficult to replace, and the German club will need to act decisively in the remaining weeks of the transfer window to avoid entering the new Bundesliga season short of attacking options.

The search for his replacement will inevitably look toward the Premier League and its environs. Afrik Foot highlights two Nigerian players who currently fit that description of a player capable of replacing Adeyemi at the Signal Iduna Park.

Two Nigerians who can replace Karim Adeyemi at Dortmund

1. Femi Azeez

The Millwall winger enjoyed a breakout campaign in the EFL Championship last season, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 34 league appearances and earning a place in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.

Aston Villa, Brighton and Bournemouth have all been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, who is valued at around €20 million.

Azeez plays primarily as a right winger, but can operate across the front line, and his combination of pace and intelligent movement off the ball mirrors the attributes that made Adeyemi difficult to contain in the Bundesliga.

For a player making his debut in a top European league, the Bundesliga’s free-flowing attacking football suits his game.

Additionally, Dortmund have history of buying Championship talent and turning them into World beaters, with Jude Bellingham being the most recent example. After his time at Westfalen, he’s gone on to make history at Real Madrid and is now turning heads with England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

If Azeez is open to joining the second-biggest club in Germany, success is almost assured.

2. Samuel Chukwueze

The Super Eagles winger has just committed his future to AC Milan after rejecting a €15 million offer from Trabzonspor, insisting he wants one final opportunity to prove himself at the San Siro under Ruben Amorim.

Yet, Milan are understood to be open to selling him if an acceptable offer arrives, and Dortmund, who will be pursuing him with Champions League football on the table, represent a more attractive destination than Trabzonspor.

At 27, Chukwueze is entering the years when that potential must finally convert into consistent top-level output, and the Bundesliga could be the environment that unlocks him in a way that Serie A never managed to.

Dortmund could acquire him at a realistic fee, given Milan’s openness to selling, bring in a player with Champions League experience and offer him the specific platform his career has always needed but never fully found.

Both players are Nigerian. Both would step into a role that demands exactly what they do best. Dortmund’s next move in this transfer window may already have its best answers in the Super Eagles’ attacking line.
