Akor Adams linked to Premier League: What Sevilla’s new sporting director move means for him

Published on by

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has been linked with a move away from Sevilla following his brilliant campaign at the club, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 26-year-old attacker is coming off a great season with Sevilla in the Spanish top flight. Last season, he contributed ten goals and four assists in 33 appearances for Los Nervionenses.

He was the club’s highest goalscorer, as he put on a show in the second half of the campaign to ensure that the team survived relegation from La Liga.

Adams’ performances have not gone unnoticed, and he has been linked with several clubs in Europe. He has been connected with a Premier League transfer, while Ligue 1 giants Marseille have emerged as a potential destination. However, nothing concrete has materialized yet.

Sevilla spent €5.5 million on the Super Eagles star in January 2025, but his value has increased significantly since then. Recently, his market value rose to €15 million on Transfermarkt, reflecting his growth and importance to the team.

Sevilla recently appointed a new sporting director, José Ignacio Navarro, who will be in charge of plotting the direction for the club. Adams’ future is one of the first issues he will be looking to resolve.

In truth, Sevilla needs to sell players this summer due to La Liga’s stringent financial rules. That is why they sold Dodi Lukebakio and Loïc Badé last summer.

When asked about the future of Adams recently, Navarro gave a rather coy response. He said, “We’re in the phone call exchange phase. The Sevilla FC shirt carries weight in the market and the players are generating interest”

Going into the summer, Adams is one of their biggest assets. That means he will fetch them a significant profit if they sell him.

Moreover, seeing that there are multiple clubs interested in signing the Super Eagles star, Los Nervionenses can afford to hold out for a high fee.

Navarro’s job will be to decide whether to let Adams leave Sevilla. He will also be responsible for determining where he goes and the structure of the deal. Also, if the sale is completed, Navarro will have a say in how the proceeds are reinvested.
