Akor Adams’ Venezia Move: Transfer fee, salary & bonuses － What we know

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has completed his transfer from Sevilla to newly-promoted Serie A club Venezia, Afrik-Foot reports.

It is a transfer move that has lingered for a few weeks. Coming into this transfer window, it was clear that he would leave the club this summer, but it was difficult to predict his next destination.

The Premier League and Saudi Arabia were in the mix at some point, but none of them tabled an official bid. Venezia only just entered the scene three weeks ago and acted decisively to seal the deal.

They first tabled a bid of €10 million, which was rebuffed by Sevilla. However, they went on to negotiate personal terms with the Super Eagles star, and that was quickly sorted.

Then, they returned to Sevilla two weeks ago with fresh terms, and after long discussions, all the parties involved reached an agreement for the transfer.

How Much Did Venezia Pay Sevilla For Akor Adams?

Coming into this transfer window, Los Nervioneses had already set a €25 million release clause on Akor Adams, which was why they rejected the first offer from Venezia.

Ultimately, they settled on a base transfer fee of €16 million. Then, there is the option of €7 million in add-ons that could see the total fee rise to €23 million eventually. Of that €7 million in add-ons, €4 million are easily achievable, while the rest are a bit more difficult.

The Super Eagles star signed a four-year contract that will keep him at Venezia until the summer of 2030. There is no buy-back clause or any detail of a sell-on clause.

How Much Is Akor Adams’ New Salary?

As established previously, Adams’ move to Italy is not one fueled by a desire to earn more money; rather, it was Sevilla pushing him out to raise funds.

In Seville, his gross salary was €1.88 million every year. Now in Venice, he will earn €1.5 million per year, representing a significant decrease in his earnings. Still, he will be the third-highest earner at the club.

His new contract will be packed with performance-related bonuses. He will be paid extra if Venezia stay afloat in Serie A, if he reaches a certain goal tally for the season, and through a few other incentives.

So basically, if he bangs in goals aplenty, he will get a significant bump in his earnings.

However, Adams might take a salary slash if the club gets relegated, ensuring they can keep up with the financial demands of playing in the second tier.

Venezia have already resumed training, and the Super Eagles star will be looking to join up with his new teammates as soon as possible.
