Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi is the subject of interest from LaLiga side Atletico Madrid.
Los Colchoneros, fresh from exiting the ongoing Club World Cup in the group stage, are keen to bolster their squad, and have already confirmed the signing of creator Alex Baena from Villarreal. They have now turned their attention to the Fulham man, who excelled for the Cottagers in the 2024/25 season, snagging 10 goals and six assists in the Premier League.
According to reports, Atletico, who have already had a bid of €25 million rebuffed by Fulham, are willing to offer wages in excess of €100,000 to lure Iwobi to the Metropolitano.

Does Atletico move make sense for Alex Iwobi?
A move to the Spanish giants reportedly holds interest for the 29-year-old, and it is not difficult to see why.
It would represent a return to the elite level of the sport, six years after he left boyhood club Arsenal for Everton. While he has distinguished himself away from home comforts and under different managers, a chance to once more demonstrate his ability for a truly top side would appeal greatly.

Also, it is not difficult to see how Iwobi might fit in at Atletico. For one thing, the 11-time LaLiga winners are light in midfield, with the likes of Saul, Rodrigo de Paul and Koke, all on the wrong side of 30, on their last legs. Youngster Pablo Barrios has grown in prominence over the last 12 months, but if the 2024/25 campaign proved anything to manager Diego Simeone, it was the necessity of infusing intensity into the middle of the park.
Iwobi, an intriguing blend of technique and work rate, would fit the bill exceptionally. His versatility would make him an option in a wide role as well, especially if Atletico wish to return to the disciplined, narrow 4-4-2 that served them so well for many years.
