Anderlecht eyeing Chidera Ejuke: What Belgian club must do to land Super Eagles dribble-king

Published on by

Super Eagles attacker Chidera Ejuke faces an uncertain future at Sevilla, with widespread reports suggesting a potential exit this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.

Ejuke joined Los Nervionenses two years ago as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at CSKA Moscow. And his time in Spain has been a topsy-turvy experience.

To date, the Nigerian winger has made 54 appearances, contributing three goals. Aside from his lack of productivity in the final third, Ejuke’s progress has been hindered by the instability at Sevilla, with the club cycling through multiple managers.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Los Nervionenses are now looking to offload him. Beyond his struggles on the pitch, Sevilla need to raise funds to meet La Liga’s financial regulations.

While Ejuke has been linked with clubs in the Premier League and the Saudi Pro League, no concrete developments have emerged from those speculation.

However, fresh reports from Elgoldigital indicate that former Belgian Jupiler Pro League champions Anderlecht are planning a move for the attacker. The Belgian club are long-term admirers of Ejuke and are looking to add him to their roster.

The Super Eagles star has played in Belgium before with Royal Antwerp, where he impressed by registering five goals and five assists in 39 games.

As such, he is well-acquainted with the demands of the Belgian top flight. His flair on the ball, pace, and ability to dribble out of tight spaces would be a significant weapon in Belgium and could prove to be a game-changer.

What Anderlecht Must Do to Land Chidera Ejuke

As noted earlier, Sevilla are prepared to do business. With only one year remaining on his contract and no extension offer on the table, the club is clearly ready to let him leave.

Reports suggest they have placed a €5 million price tag on the winger, a figure that is considered affordable.

Also, Ejuke earns around €17,000 per week in Seville — a salary well within Anderlecht’s reach. If the Belgian side can meet Sevilla’s valuation and match his personal terms, they are well-positioned to secure his signature.

Ejuke is no stranger to new environments, having played in Nigeria, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, and Belgium. Given his history, he is likely to be open to the move.

Nonetheless, one of his major concerns will be the potential impact on his international career. At 28, he will remain eager to secure consistent playing time to maintain his place with the Super Eagles over the next two years at least.

With pre-season set to resume in just over two weeks, it will be interesting to see where Ejuke heads next.
