Barcelona relaunch move for Osimhen as Galatasaray react with smart decision

Published on by

Barcelona’s long-running search for a new leading striker has once again brought Victor Osimhen back firmly into the club’s radar, Afrik-Foot reports.

Reports in Spain via Haberlisin, suggest that the Catalan giants are preparing a renewed approach for the Galatasaray forward this summer.

The Nigerian international has emerged as one of Europe’s most consistent goalscorers since arriving in Istanbul, and Barcelona view him as a natural successor to veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, whose role is gradually being scaled back.

Osimhen’s blend of pace, physical power and ruthless finishing is understood to fit perfectly with the profile Barcelona’s recruitment team have identified for the next phase of their rebuild.

Yet while interest continues to grow, Galatasaray are in no rush to lose their most valuable asset. The Turkish champions remain firmly on course for domestic success once again and are enjoying a strong European campaign, achievements built largely around Osimhen’s goals.

Club officials are delighted with the impact of the Juventus-linked 27-year-old and would prefer to keep him at the heart of their project for at least another season.

Osimhen: Smart Galatasaray set €80m benchmark

Despite their desire to hold on to their star striker, Galatasaray are also keen to protect the financial side of the deal. The Lions have quietly put a price on Osimhen should Barcelona, or any other European heavyweight, push seriously for his signature.

Reports indicate the Turkish club would begin negotiations at around €80 million, a figure that would represent a profit on the €75m they paid to make his move permanent from Napoli earlier this season.

From Galatasaray’s perspective, such a fee would reward Osimhen’s outstanding performances while strengthening the club’s long-term finances. This would represent a big win for Barcelona as it would secure a proven elite striker entering his prime. And for Osimhen himself, it would offer a return to one of Europe’s biggest stages.

The Nigerian’s numbers continue to justify the growing interest. After registering 37 goals and seven assists last season, he has followed it up with another prolific campaign despite missing time through the Africa Cup of Nations. His Champions League form, in particular, has elevated his reputation across the continent.

Osimhen is contracted until 2029, giving Galatasaray strong negotiating power, but also the flexibility to strike a deal if the right offer arrives.
