“Best striker in the world” – Ex-Fenerbahce star places Victor Osimhen above Haaland and Harry Kane

Super Eagles and Birmingham City right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel has claimed Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen is the best striker in the world, Afrik Foot reports.

Osimhen has been one of Nigeria’s biggest exports in recent years, hoisting the green and white flag high, in Europe and on the continent.

The former Napoli man has now received praise from his national teammate Osayi, who’s placed him above the likes of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane.

Osimhen is the best in the World – Osayi-Samuel

The pair were on opposing ends in Turkey, with the defender playing for Fenerbahce in Osimhen’s first season at Galatasaray.

Osayi joined Birmingham City last summer and was one of the best performers for Nigeria at the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.

In an interview with Oma Akatugba, the 28-year-old mentioned how much of an impact Osimhen had in Nigeria’s brilliant display at the AFCON.

“We have Vic, who’s the best striker in the world, not just for scoring goals, but for his pressing,” the former QPR man said.

“Our pressing was really important to how we played. I wish we could have played like that in our qualifiers.

Bright Osayi-Samuel was quizzed about how the remainder of the Super Eagles players handle claims that the team are over-dependent on Osimhen.

“Personally, it doesn’t really affect me. People need to realise Victor is one of the star men of our team, and we’d always want our star players to be present in the games.

“He’s a phenomenal player. People will always have their opinions on whether he’s playing or not.

“For us, we’re just professionals; we focus on winning the game, whether he plays or not. We’ll give a 100%,” the England-raised Nigerian concluded.

Like Calvin Bassey at Fulham, Osayi has seen his playing time reduce since he returned to Birmingham after the AFCON, playing just 111 minutes for the Blues.
