Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has emerged as a surprise target in what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive transfer scrambles of the summer.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward, who has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga since joining from Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, is reportedly on Newcastle United’s radar as they prepare for potential changes in their attacking lineup.
The interest in Boniface comes amid reports of Arsenal's pursuit of Swedish forward Alexander Isak, suggesting that clubs are exploring alternative options should primary targets become unavailable.

Interestingly, Boniface's playing style has drawn comparisons to Isak, with both players known for their flair, technical prowess, and clinical finishing.
Saudi link could play key role in Boniface transfer
Boniface's potential transfer is further complicated by the involvement of Newcastle's Saudi-backed owners, the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The 24-year-old was close to joining PIF-owned Al Nassr in January, and the financial power of the consortium could play a decisive role in securing his signature this summer.
It is understood that the Nigerian forward would be open to a move to St. James’ Park, with intermediaries working behind the scenes to explore potential exit strategies ahead of the summer transfer window.

Boniface was instrumental in Leverkusen's historic campaign last season, contributing 31 goals and assists in 34 appearances as Die Werkself secured both the DFB-Pokal and their first-ever Bundesliga title.
So far this season, Boniface has found the net seven times and registered one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions.
Leverkusen reportedly value the forward at over €50 million (£42.2 million). He joined the German champions in 2023 for a fee believed to be around €22 million.
