French Ligue 1 side, Stade Brestois 29 are reportedly keen on taking Gift Orban on loan as the Nigerian striker continues to struggle at Olympique Lyonnais.
The Ligue 1 side have made initial contact with Lyon as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Orban's meteoric rise from relative obscurity has hit a roadblock since his winter move to Lyon. The Nigerian, who exploded onto the scene with 32 goals in 52 appearances for KAA Gent, was seen as the perfect replacement for Lyon legend Alexandre Lacazette.
However, his time at the Ligue 1 club has been far from idyllic. Handed the number nine jersey, Orban has struggled to replicate his Belgian goal-scoring form in France, only managing three goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for Lyon.
With the addition of Euro 2024 breakout star Georges Mikautadze to Lyon's attacking options, Orban's chances of regular first-team football appear increasingly slim.
Brest offer Gift Orban a lifeline
Amidst growing speculation surrounding Gift Orban's future, UCL-bound Stade Brestois 29 have emerged as a potential destination for the struggling striker.
According to French journalist Nabil Djellit, initial contacts have been made between the two clubs with the aim of bringing the 22-year-old to Stade Francis-Le Blé.
A loan move to Brest could offer Orban a much-needed opportunity to revive his career. The Brittany-based club are reportedly keen to provide the Super Eagles invitee with a platform to regain his confidence and rediscover his scoring touch.
While neither Lyon nor the player's camp have confirmed the reports, a temporary move away from the Groupama Stadium could be beneficial for all parties involved, as increased playing time at Brest could lead to a permanent move, allowing Lyon to recoup some of their initial investment.
