Bruno Fernandes to Galatasaray? Expert explains why he is better for Osimhen than Silva

Published on by

Turkish football insider Ilgaz Çınar believes Bruno Fernandes would be a better attacking partner for Victor Osimhen than Bernardo Silva, as Galatasaray look to build a stronger team, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Turkish champions are already ambitious in the transfer market. After bringing in big names like İlkay Gündoğan and Leroy Sané to play alongside Osimhen, they are now targeting another top-level creator. Both Manchester United playmaker Fernandes and Manchester City captain Silva are believed to be on Galatasaray’s radar, although both deals would be difficult.

Silva is seen as a possible long-term replacement for Dries Mertens, whose time at the club ended last year. The Portugal international’s contract situation could make him available soon, but there is strong interest from top European clubs.

Fernandes, meanwhile, remains central to Manchester United and is tied down to a longer contract, making any move more complicated.

But for Çınar, the choice is clear. He believes Galatasaray need creativity and unpredictability behind Osimhen.

Ilgaz Çınar said via Winner Galatasaray, “By Turkish standards, the player you’d play behind a striker needs to be an improvisation master – it should be Bruno Fernandes.

Imagine the Bruno – Osimhen partnership, imagine the Fernandes – Sane partnership too. Say Barış Alper Yılmaz is gone, and Rafael Leao comes in, imagine the partnership with him.

Don’t compare Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva purely on talent. Compare who would be the improvisation master, and that would be Bruno Fernandes.”

How Bruno Fernandes or Bernardo Silva could unlock Victor Osimhen

If Galatasaray manage to sign either of the two Portuguese icons, the team’s shape would likely revolve around getting the best out of Osimhen. A 4-2-3-1 system would be the most natural fit, with the Nigerian striker leading the line.

In this setup, Fernandes would play as the central attacking midfielder. His role would be simple: find Osimhen early and often. Known for his direct passing, Fernandes can quickly release runners, and that suits Osimhen’s pace and movement. The striker thrives when playing on the shoulder of defenders, and Fernandes’ through-balls would give him regular chances to attack space.

Silva, on the other hand, offers something different. He is calmer on the ball and helps control matches. Playing slightly deeper, he would keep possession ticking and link midfield to attack. While he may not take as many risks as Fernandes, his intelligence would allow Galatasaray to dominate games and create openings in a more patient way.

Out wide, Sané would stretch defences with his speed and dribbling. His crossing from the left would give Osimhen another source of chances, while the right side could be used for more controlled build-up play, especially if Silva is involved.

The biggest benefit of adding either player is variety. Osimhen would receive crosses, quick passes in behind, and chances created from high pressing. With Fernandes, the attack becomes fast and unpredictable. With Silva, it becomes controlled and balanced.

There are risks. Playing so many attacking players could leave the midfield exposed, placing more responsibility on deeper players like Gündoğan. There is also the challenge of sharing the ball between multiple creative stars.

Still, if the balance is right, Galatasaray could build one of the most dangerous attacks in Europe and give Osimhen the perfect platform to score goals consistently.
