Eleven players have reported to the Super Falcons’ training camp as Nigeria begin preparations for an international friendly double-header against Cameroon in Yaoundé, Afrik-Foot reports.
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade was among the first players to arrive. The midfielder, who plays for Paris Saint‑Germain Féminine, leads an early group that also includes Christy Ucheibe of SL Benfica Feminino and defender Tosin Demehin, who represents Galatasaray Women.
All three were part of Nigeria’s successful Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign last year.
Several returning players have also linked up with the squad after missing the previous tournament. They include US-based forward Monday Gift, Nottingham Forest striker Joy Omewa, and defender Glory Ogbonna. Midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene returns following maternity leave after welcoming her first child.

Nigeria: Friendly matches key to Super Falcons’ title defence
The Super Falcons will face Cameroon in the first friendly on Saturday, February 28, before completing the double-header on Tuesday, March 3.
The matches form part of Nigeria’s preparations for the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the team will aim to defend the continental title they won after defeating hosts Morocco in a dramatic final.

Nigeria, record champions with ten WAFCON titles, have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Malawi and Zambia, a side they beat convincingly in last tournament’s quarter-finals.
Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses, meanwhile, enter the competition seeking their first WAFCON crown after finishing runners-up on three occasions. They will compete in Group D with Cape Verde, Ghana and Mali.

The 2026 WAFCON will again be hosted in Morocco, marking the third consecutive edition staged in the North African nation. Matches are expected to take place across Casablanca, Fez and Rabat.
Beyond continental glory, the tournament also carries global importance. It will serve as Africa’s qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with four teams earning automatic qualification and two others advancing to inter-confederation play-offs.
