Nigeria’s Super Eagles will open camp on 24 March ahead of a four-nation invitational tournament scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan, during the FIFA international window, Afrik-Foot reports.
The three-time African champions will face Iran and tournament hosts Jordan in the mini competition, which is designed to provide teams with competitive preparation matches.
Head coach Eric Chelle will lead Nigeria into their opening game against Iran’s national side, popularly known as Team Melli, on Friday, 27 March at the 17,000-capacity Amman International Stadium.
Nigeria will then return to the same venue four days later to face Jordan. Costa Rica are the fourth team invited to the tournament but will not meet the Super Eagles during the competition.

Both Iran and Jordan have already secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and are using the fixtures to sharpen their squads ahead of the global tournament. Nigeria and Costa Rica, meanwhile, missed out on qualification, although the Nigeria Football Federation continues to explore legal options regarding Nigeria’s participation status.
For Nigeria, the matches represent an important step toward rebuilding momentum ahead of qualification matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles were last in action in the bronze medal match of the 2025 AFCON finals against Egypt national football team.

Chelle set to submit Super Eagles squad list
Chelle is expected to submit his squad list later this week as preparations intensify for the international tournament in Jordan’s capital. However, it is unlikely that the NFF will make the list public until mid-March.
Despite ongoing discussions about his contract situation and recent links with French clubs Olympique de Marseille and FC Nantes, the Malian coach remains fully in charge of the Super Eagles heading into the March fixtures.

The Malian coach is likely to retain the core group of players who helped Nigeria secure a bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. However, a few new names could also be introduced, with several Nigerian players enjoying strong seasons across European leagues.
