Trabzonspor coach Fatih Tekke has revealed that Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu will return to training on Friday, March 6, Afrik-Foot reports.

Nwaiwu has been an important player for Trabzonspor since joining from Austrian club Wolfsberger during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old center-back has featured in nine games for the Black Sea Storm, with two goals and one assist to his name.

However, earlier in the week, reports emerged that the former Enyimba man had suffered a muscle injury that would keep him sidelined.

Initially, there were fears that the problem might hamper his growth at Trabzonspor and also affect the team. However, it appears that the former Enyimba man will return to action sooner rather than later.

According to Trabzonspor coach Tekke in an interview on Thursday, Nwaiwu is expected to return to training on Friday.

”Tomorrow, Chibuike Nwaiwu will join training,” Tekke told journalists, per Sporx.

Although he did not categorically state that the Nigerian defender would be available for selection against Kayserispor this weekend, it means that Nwaiwu will soon return to action.

Chibuike Nwaiwu Still In Contention To Make Eric Chelle’s March Squad

This month, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will return to action, so Eric Chelle is expected to name a squad soon.

Chibuike Nwaiwu is one of the players on Chelle’s radar due to his brilliant performances for Trabzonspor. The March games are friendlies, which give the Super Eagles coaching staff the liberty of adding some new names.

Since Nwaiwu will be fully fit before the March games, he will definitely be in contention to make Chelle’s squad for the games by the end of this month.

The 22-year-old center-back will add something different to the Super Eagles squad, as he is quick, gritty, and has a penchant for scoring goals.

He will be hoping that things pan out in his favour.
