Samuel Chukwueze transfer update: Fulham, AC Milan to seal €24 million deal

Published on by

Fulham have made clear their interest in signing Samuel Chukwueze on a permanent deal from AC Milan, but no agreement has been completed yet, Afrik-Foot reports.

The Nigeria international joined Fulham on loan late in the summer window, looking for regular football after falling out of favour under manager Massimiliano Allegri. Since then, he has shown glimpses of his quality, even if he has not always started games.

Reports from Italy suggest Fulham have already contacted Milan to express their willingness to pay around €24 million to make the move permanent. That figure matches the option included in his loan deal and would suit Milan, who are open to selling the winger.

However, the situation is not yet settled. Talks have taken place, but there is still no final agreement between the clubs. Fulham are taking a careful approach, especially after Chukwueze missed several matches with a calf injury earlier in the season.

On the pitch, the 26-year-old has contributed three goals and four assists in 17 Premier League appearances. His pace, direct running and ability to beat defenders have added something different to Fulham’s attack under Marco Silva.

Even so, Fulham appear to be weighing up the risks before committing fully. His injury record and inconsistency have raised some doubts, which may explain why the deal has not yet been finalised.

Fulham: European qualification could decide the deal

Fulham’s final decision on Chukwueze may depend heavily on where they finish this season.

As things stand, the London club sit ninth in the Premier League table with 44 points from 31 matches. They are still in the race for European football, but the challenge is a difficult one.

A top-five finish would secure a place in the UEFA Champions League, while positions just below could still offer entry into the UEFA Europa League or the UEFA Europa Conference League.

If Fulham manage to qualify for Europe, it would strengthen their case for signing Chukwueze permanently. European football would bring more matches, greater demands on the squad, and a stronger need for attacking depth. In that scenario, keeping a player with his pace and experience would make clear sense.

On the other hand, missing out on Europe could force Fulham to rethink their spending. Without the extra income and attraction of continental competition, committing €24 million to one player becomes a bigger decision.

There is also the question of ambition. A place in Europe would show Fulham are ready to grow, and signing a player like Chukwueze would fit that plan. Without it, the club may look for cheaper or more reliable options.

The situation remains open, though. Fulham have made their move, Milan are willing to sell, but the final call may come down to what happens on the pitch in the final weeks of the season.
