Daniel Ogunmodede: Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles assistant notches major coaching landmark

Published on by

Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede has announced that he has obtained his UEFA B coaching license, Afrik-Foot reports.

Ogunmodede has been growing as one of the best tacticians in the country. He rose to prominence due to his work with Remo Stars, as his brilliant style of football caught the eyes of many on the national scene.

It was during the 2023/24 season that he was appointed as one of the assistants, alongside Fidelis Ilechukwu, to work with then-Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro.

Since then, he has been shuttling between the Remo Stars job and his Super Eagles role over the last two years.

Meanwhile, the 45-year-old tactician is known to be one of the more ambitious coaches in Nigeria, and he has never shied away from admitting that he is very ambitious.

Now, in a recent development, Ogunmodede revealed that he has obtained his UEFA B coaching license.

The Super Eagles assistant shared a picture of himself with other coaches in Scotland, and he captioned it: “As an advocate of football coaching education, I am humbly pleased to announce my successful completion and official recognition as a UEFA B Licensed coach. Together we can be better.”

This is a big achievement for the former Feirense assistant, as not many Nigerian coaches can boast of a UEFA B coaching license.

Daniel Ogunmodede: What Does The UEFA B License Do For Him?

With the UEFA B License, Daniel Ogunmodede can now coach at any club in Europe. However, he can only be a head coach at an amateur club; otherwise, he could take up a coaching role at a club’s academy for players up to the under-16 level, or he could take up an assistant coaching position at any club in the lower tiers of any league.

But primarily, the UEFA B License sets him up nicely to go on and acquire his UEFA A coaching license and Pro License.

In the meantime, the former Remo Stars boss is expected to link up with the Super Eagles ahead of the upcoming friendly games in March. They take on Jordan and Iran in two World Cup preparatory fixtures.

If he continues to grow, perhaps in the future, Ogunmodede could get his chance at becoming the Super Eagles coach.
