Cyriel Dessers was once again the hero for Rangers, delivering a crucial goal that kept his side from suffering a second Europa League defeat.
The Nigerian striker’s first Europa league goal of the season proved to be the difference as Rangers earned a hard-fought draw away at Olympiacos.
The match, which looked set to tilt in favour of the Greek side, saw a goalless first half before Olympiacos took the lead shortly after the restart.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Ayoub El Kaabi was played in with a brilliant pass and seized the chance. He calmly fired a precise shot that sailed toward the top right corner, striking the post before going in.
But Dessers, who has been in fine form all season, refused to let his team slip further.
His clinical strike from the edge of the box levelled the score, securing a valuable point for Rangers on the road.
Cyriel Dessers' 9th goal of the season: Key impact for Rangers
Rangers’ Europa League campaign has been solid so far. After opening with a 2-0 victory over Malmo, they were handed a disappointing 4-1 loss by Lyon.
However, the team regained their confidence with an impressive 4-0 win over FCSB, only to enter this game with a 2-1 victory against Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup.
Cyriel Dessers’ equaliser against Olympiacos was his 9th goal of the season, continuing his standout performances for Rangers.
The Super Eagles forward has now scored across multiple competitions, including four goals in the Scottish League Cup and three in the Scottish Premiership.
Despite several attempts, Dessers was the only player to find the back of the net in the match, registering four shots on target.
His performance on the night reaffirmed his growing importance to the team before he was replaced by Hamza Igamane six minutes before regulation time.
The Nigerian international will continue to be a crucial figure as Rangers shift their focus to their upcoming league clash against Hearts.
