Summer 2025’s deadliest signings: Díaz, Osimhen top list as Chelsea, Arsenal reap rewards

Published on by

The summer of 2025 was defined by ambition. Europe’s biggest clubs did not hesitate to spend heavily in pursuit of trophies, prestige and attacking firepower. Transfer fees soared past expectations and expectations rose just as sharply.

As always, some new arrivals have needed time to adjust. Others have struggled beneath the weight of their price tags. But a select group have done what matters most: score goals. And score them consistently.

Here, Afrik-Foot highlights the seven highest-scoring big-money signings of the summer 2025 window; players who have justified their transfer fees with decisive contributions in front of goal.

Luis Diaz – 19 goals

At the top of the list stands Luis Díaz (Bayern Munich): 19 goals.

The Colombian winger’s €70 million move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich was largely unexpected. He had been central to Liverpool’s attacking rhythm, but Bayern saw him as the ideal wide forward to restore their European dominance.

So far, that faith has been richly rewarded.

Díaz has scored 19 goals in all competitions, more than any other major summer arrival. Even more impressive is his creative output: 15 assists in just 34 matches. His direct running, relentless pressing and ability to attack the back post have made him indispensable in Bavaria.

Bayern are chasing a treble – Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League – and Díaz has been central to that charge. For Liverpool, his departure has left a visible gap. For Bayern, it may yet define their season.

Joao Pedro – 17 goals

Not far behind is João Pedro (Chelsea): 17 goals.

Chelsea paid Brighton €63.7 million for the Brazilian forward, a deal that many considered bold. Yet Pedro has quickly become the focal point of Chelsea’s resurgence.

His recent hat-trick in a 4-1 away win over Aston Villa took his tally to 17 goals in all competitions, 14 of them in the Premier League. He has been Chelsea’s most reliable attacking outlet, combining technical finesse with intelligent movement between the lines.

Without his goals, Chelsea’s push for a Champions League return would have looked fragile. With him, Stamford Bridge is beginning to dream again.

Victor Osimhen – 17 goals

Matching Pedro’s total is Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray) – 17 goals.

After an impressive loan spell in Istanbul, Osimhen’s €75 million permanent switch from Napoli was a statement of intent by Galatasaray. It was not a modest investment. But it has proven inspired.

The Nigerian striker has scored 17 goals in all competitions, including seven in just eight Champions League appearances. Osimhen’s pace, aerial dominance and ruthless finishing have driven Galatasaray into the Champions League Round of 16 for the first time in 12 years.

Beyond the numbers, Osimhen’s presence has elevated the club’s European credibility. Once again, Europe’s wealthiest clubs are circling. His market value is rising, and so is his influence.

Hugo Ekitike – 16 goals

Hugo Ekitiké (Liverpool): 16 goals

Hugo Ekitiké arrived in a summer of sweeping change at Anfield. Liverpool spent heavily, bringing in both Ekitiké and Alexander Isak in a combined deal approaching €250 million.

Yet it is the Frenchman, signed for just under €100 million, who has settled fastest.

Ekitiké has scored 16 goals in all competitions, including 11 in the Premier League, where he has added five assists. His intelligent movement, calm finishing and ability to drift into space have given Liverpool a different dimension in attack.

With Liverpool still chasing domestic and European honours, Ekitiké’s goals could prove decisive in the final stretch.

Viktor Gyokeres – 15 goals

Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal): 15 goals

Gyökeres insisted on his dream move before Arsenal eventually secured the Swedish striker for €66.9 million from Sporting Lisbon.

The investment has been productive. Gyökeres has delivered 15 goals in all competitions, ten in the Premier League. He leads the line for an Arsenal side currently topping the league table and chasing a first title in years.

While there is room for refinement in his link-up play, his physical presence and clinical edge have added steel to Arsenal’s attack. Crucially, he has scored in high-pressure moments.

Nick Woltemade – 11 goals

At Newcastle, Nick Woltemade with 11 goals has taken on the difficult task of replacing Alexander Isak. Signed from VfB Stuttgart in a club-record deal worth up to £69.3 million including add-ons, the German forward has handled the transition admirably.

Seven of his goals have come in the Premier League, 11 in total across competitions. The physicality of English football is unforgiving, but Woltemade’s composure and versatility suggest there is more to come in the closing months.

Bryan Mbeumo – 10 goals

Completing the list is Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United): 10 goals.

His €75 million move from Brentford made him the most expensive Cameroonian footballer in history. Expectations were high. While other summer arrivals at Old Trafford have struggled, Mbeumo has provided attacking clarity.

He already has nine Premier League goals, one more than last season’s top scorer managed, and 10 in all competitions. His direct running, pressing intensity and eye for goal have made him United’s most reliable attacking threat this season.
