Raja Casablanca vs El-Kanemi Warriors: Confirmed line-up, team news and injuries

Published on by

Raja Casablanca have announced their starting XI for Friday’s CAF Confederation Cup second-leg tie against El-Kanemi Warriors.

The teams drew 2-2 in the first leg in Nigeria, leaving both sides fighting for a place in the competition’s group stage at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca.

Raja unveiled their team on their official X account with a graphic styled after a retro Nokia phone.

Zoubir starts in goal, behind a defence featuring Huja, Arrassi, Boulacsout and Knaidil. Barkok, Makahasi and Chraibi are named in midfield, while Dahmani, Shararah and Mathias Oyewusi lead the attack.

Oyewusi was the star of the show in the first leg, when the Nigerian forward scored and assisted Raja’s two goals.

Alaoui, Mokadem, El Amloud, Iguiz, Khafi, Bakiz, Ould Cheikh, Khammas and Felipinho are among the substitutes.

Adam Ennaffati and Ayoub El Amloud were reported to be injury doubts ahead of the match. However, El Amloud passed a late fitness test to make it to the substitutes bench.

El-Kanemi have not yet confirmed their starting XI. Ibrahim Iddrisu is expected to start in goal, with Samuel Ganda, Murtala Ibrahim, Bakura Jibrin and Usman Abbas in defence.

Lawal Shehu Giwa, Jimoh Gbadamosi, Henry Ndedi and Bright Etaghara are expected to make up the midfield, while Nnamdi Mejuobi and Kelvin Osas could lead the attack in a 4-4-2 formation.

What El-Kanemi Warriors and Raja Casablanca need to qualify

Raja have the advantage after scoring twice away from home in the first leg. A win or a 0-0 or 1-1 draw would send the Moroccan side through under the away-goals rule.

A 2-2 draw would take the tie to a penalty shootout, while El-Kanemi would qualify with a win or a draw of 3-3 or higher.

Raja, two-time winners of the CAF Confederation Cup, will be determined to avoid an early exit. El-Kanemi, meanwhile, have a chance to knock out one of Africa’s established clubs and reach the group stage.

Kick-off is scheduled for 9pm Nigerian time on Friday at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca.
