Ex-Super Eagles midfielder backs Osimhen for Arsenal move

Former Super Eagles and Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has backed Victor Osimhen to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this summer, Afrik Foot reports.

The Gunners recently sent their sporting director, Andrea Berta, to the RAMS Park in Istanbul to scout the 27-year-old in Galatasaray’s 3-0 win over Fenerbahce.

However, the Italian wasn’t in Turkiye for Osimhen alone. He also enquired about goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır and attacking midfielder Barış Alper Yılmaz.

Ogenyi Onazi urges Osimhen to make Arsenal move

While Juventus, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring the development of the 2023 CAF Player of the Year, Onazi believes Osimhen will thrive in the English Premier League.

“I trust Osimhen to make the right decision for himself regarding a move to the Premier League, and not just based on what people think,” the 33-year-old said in an interview with Footy Africa.

“However, personally, it would gladden me if he makes the move, as Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England and in the world.”

“He will be a big hit in England, as he will fit into Arsenal’s system and cause a lot of problems for defenders with his power and pace.

“The Premier League is massive and followed worldwide, and it would be good for him to test himself elsewhere after his heroics in Italy and now in Turkey.

“It will be a tough decision because I know Galatasaray love him and the fans have also taken to him, but a move to Arsenal would be superb for him,” Onazi concluded.

Osimhen could seal his third title in Turkiye tomorrow if Galatasaray defeat Samsunspor.
