Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune has confirmed that Super Eagles defender Felix Agu will be available for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Wolfsburg, according to Afrik-Foot.
Agu’s time at Werder Bremen has been plagued by injuries. Although he has been with the club since 2021, this has proven to be one of his most difficult campaigns due to consistent layoffs.
After starting the season strongly, the 26-year-old defender suffered an ankle injury in early October, which kept him sidelined until February.

His return to action was short-lived, however; after just two games, he sustained an adductor injury during a pre-match warm-up against St. Pauli on February 22.
Following a period of rehabilitation, news broke last week that Agu had returned to team training. Now, ahead of Die Werderaner’s critical relegation battle at the Volkswagen Arena, it is confirmed that the Nigerian international is fit and ready for selection.
An official club statement indicated that Agu is now prepared for a sustained run in the first team.
Given his quality, the former Osnabruck man is a strong candidate to start on Saturday in a high-stakes encounter, as both sides currently sit in the bottom four of the Bundesliga table.

How Injuries Have Limited Felix Agu’s Super Eagles Career
The 26-year-old Felix Agu rose to prominence in the Nigerian football scene last year after earning a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the Unity Cup in June.
Following a series of impressive performances, many expected him to become a mainstay in the national team. However, fitness issues have hampered his international progress.
Most notably, his ankle injury ruled him out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025).

Yesterday, coach Eric Chelle announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Jordan and Iran. Once again, Agu failed to make the cut—a decision likely influenced by his lack of match fitness over the last five months.
The Werder Bremen star will be hoping for a change in fortune and a clean bill of health as he looks to reclaim his spot in the national team setup.
