Ex-Fenerbahçe S.K. president Aziz Yıldırım has intensified his efforts to sign Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey from Fulham this summer as he looks to regain his former position, Afrik Foot reports.
Yıldırım served as the president of Fenerbahçe for two decades, from February 1998 to June 2018 and has re-entered the presidential race ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign, promising to land huge Premier League talents if voted in.
The 73-year-old’s goal is to restore glory to Fenerbahce domestically, considering Galatasaray have been the face of Turkish football over the past decade.

Afrik Foot previously reported that Yıldırım had a shortlist of Premier League stars he wants to buy. The list includes names like West Ham United’s Malick Diouf, Manchester City’s Savinho and Fulham’s Calvin Bassey.
Turkish outlet A Sports, now reports that the former Fenerbahce President has promised to add Manchester City’s Nathan Ake and Malang Sarr to the list when voted in.
The Presidential elections will be held from the 6th of June to the 7th, and Yıldırım has strong hopes of reclaiming his previous position.

According to the report, Fenerbahce have already met with the representatives of Nathan Ake and Bassey over a potential move, travelling all the way to London to make their intent known.
The 19-time Turkish Super Lig Champions have also registered interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Sehrou Giurassy.
“There are no offers for Serhou. We also don’t have a plan to sell him. Borussia have shown how valuable the striker is to the team in the last two seasons in Dortmund,” Dortmund chief Lars Ricken said, playing down the chances of an exit.

Bassey, meanwhile, is about to enter the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage, although Fulham hold a clause to extend the deal for another year.
