Fulham eye Paul Onuachu: What it will cost the Cottagers to sign Trabzonspor striker

Paul Onuachu is once again attracting Premier League interest, with Fulham emerging as the latest club monitoring the Super Eagles striker ahead of the new season, Afrik Foot reports.

The 32-year-old Nigerian has rebuilt his reputation since leaving Southampton, enjoying an outstanding campaign with Trabzonspor that saw him finish among the Turkish Super Lig’s top scorers while helping the Black Sea Storm qualify for Europe.

However, convincing Trabzonspor to part with their star striker will not come cheaply.

Trabzonspor have made their demands clear

Fulham may have identified Onuachu as a potential addition to Alvaro Arbeloa’s attack, but any deal will likely require an offer between €25 million and €30 million.

The Turkish club have steadily increased the Nigerian’s valuation following his remarkable performances over the past year.

Back in June, Trabzonspor rejected a €20 million offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli, signalling that they believed Onuachu’s value had risen beyond that figure.

Only weeks later, reports in Turkey suggested the club had settled on an asking price of around €30 million, reflecting both his importance to the squad and the growing interest from abroad.

Despite Transfermarkt currently valuing the Nigerian at €6 million, Trabzonspor’s stance is based less on market estimates and more on what replacing his goals would cost.

Onuachu remains under contract until June 2028, meaning the Turkish club are under no pressure to negotiate from a position of weakness.

Why Fulham remain interested despite the price

At first glance, spending close to €30 million on a striker who recently turned 32 appears expensive.

However, Fulham would not simply be buying age; they would be buying a proven product.

Last season, Onuachu once again demonstrated why he remains one of Europe’s most reliable forwards, combining his aerial dominance with clinical finishing to spearhead Trabzonspor’s attack. His experience in England also works in his favour.

Although his spell at Southampton failed to produce the desired results, the Premier League’s physical demands are already familiar territory, reducing the adaptation period compared to signing a striker arriving directly from another league.

Fulham also lack a forward with Onuachu’s profile. Standing at over two metres tall, the Nigerian offers a genuine aerial threat while providing an outlet for crosses and direct play, something Raul Jimenez failed to provide after his head injury.

Could Trabzonspor lower their demands?

At this stage, Trabzonspor have shown little indication they intend to negotiate below their asking fee.

Earlier this summer, club officials made it clear they would only consider selling key players if their financial expectations were met.

Their position is understandable. Replacing a striker who consistently delivers goals is rarely straightforward, particularly for a club preparing to compete both domestically and in Europe.

For Fulham, that means negotiations would likely begin around the €25 million mark before potentially rising closer to Trabzonspor’s preferred €30 million valuation, as revealed by Transfer Feed.

Whether the London club are prepared to invest that amount in a striker entering the latter stages of his career remains to be seen at this point, but the transfer window slams shut in five weeks.
