Galatasaray, Fenerbahce get boost in Tolu Arokodare chase after new Wolves development

Turkish Super Lig powerhouses Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare, Afrik-Foot reports.

Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk last summer but has endured a difficult stint in England.

Initially, he struggled for regular minutes under former manager Vitor Pereira, though his playing time increased significantly after Rob Edwards took over in November.

However, Arokodare’s struggles have mirrored those of his club. Wolves have been among the league’s poorest performers, deep in the relegation battle since the start of the campaign. Ultimately, their descent to the Championship felt inevitable.

Last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Leeds United left Wolves rooted to the bottom of the table, with a mere 17 points from 33 matches.

That result meant Wolves’ fate rested on the outcome of Monday’s clash between Crystal Palace and West Ham. Following a goalless draw at Selhurst Park, it is now mathematically impossible for Wolves to escape the drop zone.

With Wolves’ relegation confirmed, rival clubs are expected to move for their top assets. The club will likely be open to offers as they look to reduce their wage bill ahead of life in the Championship.

This situation plays perfectly into the hands of Arokodare’s Turkish suitors. Besiktas, Galatasaray, and Fenerbahce maintain a serious interest in the forward, and Wolves’ demotion makes a deal much more attainable.

The Big Three may now secure the Super Eagles star at a cut-price fee, or potentially on a season-long loan.

The coming months will be pivotal for Arokodare. The prospect of competing for silverware and playing in European competitions is undoubtedly more enticing than a season in the English second tier.

Also, having witnessed the success of fellow Nigerians like Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen in Turkey, Arokodare may well be ready to join the party in the Super Lig.
