Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray could abandon their pursuit of Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Afrik-Foot reports.
Fernandez has attracted interest from several top sides in Europe after an impressive debut campaign with Rangers.
The 24-year-old only joined the Gers last year, but he established himself as a key player for the club, featuring in 36 games across all competitions.
Fernandez stood out due to his impressive technical ability, aerial dominance, and tackling. As a result, clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton have been keeping tabs on the Nigerian defender, but none of them has tabled a bid just yet.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray have also been linked with the young defender. They need him to replace their star, Davinson Sanchez, who has been linked with Como and will likely make the move.
They have been in talks with Rangers to negotiate a transfer, but they may soon pull out of the deal.
Why Galatasaray’s Interest in Emmanuel Fernandez May End Soon
According to Transfer Feed, Galatasaray have picked up interest in Belgian defender Arthur Theate. The 26-year-old center-back is currently on the books of Eintracht Frankfurt and was at the World Cup with Belgium before their elimination.
He did not start the Red Devils’ first two games, but when he was introduced into the lineup, he provided solidity.

He was comfortable with the ball at his feet and read the game quite well. The Cimbom are now looking at him as an option in case they fail to sign Fernandez.
Emmanuel Fernandez vs Arthur Theate: Who is Better For Galatasaray?
In reality, Arthur Theate and Emmanuel Fernandez are both very good defenders, but they operate in different ways.
Fernandez is a physical and agile defender who functions primarily as a stopper. He is the man you count on to quell danger and provide solidity at the back.

Theate, however, is quite different. Although defensively solid, he works best in a team that prefers to build up play slowly from the back.
Although he is a tall player, he does not offer the same grit that Fernandez provides, as that physical intensity is a key part of the Nigerian’s game.
However, Theate is more experienced than Fernandez, having accumulated more minutes in top-flight football.
Over the years, Sanchez has built his reputation as a gritty defender who can play on the edge. He is the man you want chasing a striker through on goal, as he can make that last-ditch tackle to save his team.
If Galatasaray want a like-for-like replacement, they should focus on signing Fernandez rather than Theate.
