Galatasaray open transfer talks with Super Eagles star

Record Turkish Super Lig Champions Galatasaray have been linked with a shock move for Super Eagles and Birmingham City right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel, Afrik Foot reports.

The 28-year-old joined the EFL Championship side from Fenerbahce last summer, but has struggled to stamp his place in the starting eleven, starting just 14 league games.

Osayi, meanwhile, was an undisputed starter in his time at Fenerbahce, where he played 178 games across four seasons, scoring seven goals and setting up 15.

Galatasaray keen on signing Bright Osayi-Samuel

Okan Buruk’s men have fielded Rolland Sallai, Wilfred Singo and Sacha Boey at right-back this season.

However, Boey is set to return to Bayern Munich this summer when his loan spell at the RAMS Park expires.

Sallai, on the other hand, is usually a winger, but has had to put in shifts at right-back, alongside Singo, who’s typically a centre-back.

As per Fanatik, Galatasaray are looking to bring in new players to fill the gap at right-back, and Bright Osayi-Samuel is one of the players being looked at.

The former QPR man mentioned he joined Birmingham with the sole aim of promoting them to the English Premier League, but he has not played enough to have a huge impact for Chris Davies’ side.

Additionally, the Blues are currently 11th on the EFL Championship table, far from a play-off spot, and as such, Osayi’s goal has been delayed for another season at least.

On the flip side, he’s thrived for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, playing all but one of the games since December, considering Ola Aina’s lengthy injury back in September.

Despite his exploits for Nigeria, Ethan Laird remains Birmingham’s first-choice right-back, and playing time could convince Osayi to make the switch to Galatasaray.
