Gift Orban: Key condition striker must meet for permanent Amdespor move

Gift Orban has made a blistering start to life at Amedspor, but the Nigerian striker must reach a specific goalscoring mark if the Turkish club are to be forced into making his loan move permanent, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 24-year-old joined Amedspor from Hoffenheim during the summer on a season-long loan after spending the previous campaign at Hellas Verona.

Orban endured an inconsistent spell in Italy despite scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 29 appearances, with Verona eventually relegated from Serie A.

His move to Amedspor was viewed as another opportunity to revive his career, but few would have expected him to make such an immediate impact in Turkey.

After six league matches, Orban has already scored seven goals and provided two assists, putting him among the leading scorers in the Turkish Süper Lig. He has contributed directly to nine goals in just 419 minutes of league football.

Key condition for Gift Orban’s permanent Amedspor move

Amedspor president Nahit Eren has now clarified the financial details surrounding Orban’s loan after previous reports suggested a different structure.

According to Eren, Amedspor paid €500,000 to Hoffenheim to loan Orban for the season, rather than the previously reported €1 million.

The agreement also contains a mandatory purchase clause that will be activated if the Nigerian reaches 10 goals during the season.

Once Orban hits that mark, Amedspor will have to pay €3 million to make his transfer permanent, with Eren explaining that the club will pay the amount in instalments over the coming years.

Orban is also earning a reported €1 million for the season, making his current loan spell a significant financial commitment for the Turkish club.

The numbers mean that the striker is now only three goals away from triggering the permanent transfer clause.

Seven goals in six matches

Orban has needed only 419 minutes to score his seven Süper Lig goals, averaging a goal every 60 minutes or so.

His match-by-match record shows just how quickly his season has exploded. Orban began with an assist in Amedspor’s 3-0 victory over Erzurumspor on the opening weekend, playing 88 minutes.

He then completed the full 90 minutes without scoring or assisting in the 2-0 defeat to Kocaelispor.

That remains his only league appearance this season without a direct goal contribution.

The Nigerian scored in the 2-1 victory over Trabzonspor, finding the net after playing 40 minutes.

He then produced two goals in only 45 minutes during Amedspor’s 2-2 draw away to Kasımpaşa.

The biggest performance came against Başakşehir on September 13, when Orban scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 victory, taking his league tally to six goals.

He then continued his scoring run against Beşiktaş on September 20, opening the scoring in the 3-2 victory and also providing the pass for Dia Saba’s goal.

Amedspor’s new star leading their title charge

Orban’s individual numbers have also come as Amedspor have made an impressive start to their first season in the Turkish top flight.

The newly promoted side have won four of their opening six matches, drawn one and lost one, giving them 13 points.

They have scored 15 goals and conceded seven, with Orban accounting for seven of their goals.

For a club playing in the Turkish top flight for the first time, Orban’s goals have therefore arrived at an important moment.

The most intriguing aspect of Orban’s excellent start is that he does not need to maintain his current extraordinary scoring rate for the entire season to secure a permanent move.

He needs only three more goals. At his current rate, the Nigerian could reach the 10-goal threshold relatively early in the campaign, although maintaining such an exceptional scoring rate over a full season is a different challenge, especially since he’s never been a consistent goalscorer since his time at Gent.
