One-time Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban completed his transfer to newly promoted Turkish Süper Lig club Amedspor on Monday, Afrik-Foot reports.

This move follows several weeks of speculation regarding his future. Recall that he spent last season on loan at Hellas Verona from Hoffenheim, registering seven goals and three assists in 29 appearances.

Unfortunately, he could not prevent his side from suffering relegation from the Italian top flight.

Orban returned to his parent club at the end of last season, but it was clear that they were not interested in keeping him, despite three years remaining on his contract.

After a brief period of quiet, reports emerged last week that the former Gent forward was closing in on a transfer to Amedspor. On Monday, the club officially confirmed his arrival.

This move to Turkey presents an opportunity for Orban to revitalize his career following previous difficult stints at Lyon and Hoffenheim.

The Numbers Behind Gift Orban’s Amedspor Move

Gift Orban’s transfer from Hoffenheim to Amedspor is a season-long loan. An option-to-buy clause has been included in the contract, giving Amedspor the opportunity to sign him permanently for €4 million at the end of the loan.

However, the buyout clause is optional rather than mandatory, meaning the Süper Lig club are not obligated to sign Orban permanently if they are unsatisfied with his performances.

The loan fee is set at €1 million, and Amedspor will cover his salary for the duration of the season.

Data from Capology indicates that Orban has taken a slight pay cut to join the Turkish club. He will earn a base salary of €750,000 annually, alongside €190,000 in performance bonuses.

Consequently, the Nigerian marksman will earn a gross weekly wage of €14,400, excluding additional bonuses—making him one of the highest-paid players at the club.

If Amedspor decide to trigger the purchase option at the end of the season, Hoffenheim will incur a €3.5 million loss on the player.
