“Haaland or Osimhen” – Real Madrid scouts watched Nigeria star vs. Liverpool

Published on by

Galatasaray insider Ali Naci Küçük has revealed just how closely Spanish giants Real Madrid are watching Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, Afrik-Foot reports.

According to Küçük, scouts from Real Madrid were present not just in Istanbul at Rams Park, but also at Anfield for the return leg against Liverpool. It is believed that this is a consistent and deliberate effort to study Osimhen in high-pressure Champions League matches.

Osimhen suffered an arm fracture early in that clash against the Reds but he battled on until halftime when he was replaced. Küçük has offered a powerful insight into one of the reasons behind the Super Eagles striker’s never-quit mentality against Liverpool.

The guy played for 40 minutes with a broken arm,” Ali Naci Küçük said as per Habersarikirmizi. “Of course he’ll play when he’s being watched by Real Madrid from the stands, but he gave his all for Galatasaray.

“Real Madrid will sign either Haaland or Osimhen at the end of the season, whether Galatasaray will let Osimhen go is another matter, but he’s a potential candidate.”

Though, Osimhen struggled to make impact at Anfield, he had been a nightmare for Liverpool on the two occasions they faced Galatasaray this season. Back in October, he scored the winning penalty to secure a 1-0 group stage victory for Galatasaray, a win that was crucial to the Turkish giants eventual progress to the knockout round.

In the first leg of their Round of 16 tie, Osimhen also provided the assist in another 1-0 Galatasaray triumph. However, in the return fixture at Anfield, the former Napoli forward suffered a fractured forearm after a collision with Ibrahima Konaté, yet still played on until half-time, a moment that likely impressed watching scouts as much as his goals.

Even though Galatasaray lost 4-0 on the night, Osimhen’s bravery and commitment stood out.

Haaland or Osimhen? Real Madrid’s big decision

The bigger question now is not whether Real Madrid are interested, it is who they will choose between Osimhen and Erling Haaland.

Both strikers are enjoying outstanding seasons, but they bring very different qualities. Osimhen has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists across all competitions, combining finishing with relentless pressing and movement. He is often praised for his ability to disturb defenders, create space, and contribute beyond just scoring.

Haaland, on the other hand, continues to dominate with incredible efficiency at Manchester City. With over 20 league goals and a strong Champions League record again this season, he remains the most clinical finisher in world football.

The decision may come down to tactics for Real Madrid. The club is believed to see Osimhen as a natural number nine who could allow Kylian Mbappé to move into his preferred position on the left wing. Haaland’s style is more central and direct, which could require adjustments to the team’s attacking structure.

Finances will also play a role. Osimhen could cost over €80m to €100m, while Haaland’s overall package, including wages and potential transfer negotiations, would likely be much higher. There are also fitness considerations, as Osimhen’s recent injury may raise concerns, even though his determination has earned admiration.

In simple terms, Real Madrid must decide between two different types of greatness: Osimhen, the energetic and complete forward who brings chaos and intensity, or Haaland, the unstoppable goal machine who guarantees numbers.

What is clear, however, is that Madrid are doing their homework carefully. By sending scouts to both Rams Park and Anfield, they are making sure that when the time comes, their choice will be based on more than just statistics, it will be based on character, resilience, and the ability to shine on the biggest stage.
