Slavia Prague defender Igoh Ogbu has explained what the Super Eagles must do to come out on top at the 2026 Unity Cup tournament, Afrik-Foot reports.
Nigeria are competing in the Unity Cup for a fourth straight edition and remain the only nation, alongside Jamaica, to have featured in every edition. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe and India complete the four-team lineup for this year’s tournament.
The Super Eagles opened their campaign with a commanding 2-0 win over Zimbabwe and will now meet Jamaica in the final, a repeat of last year’s showdown and the second consecutive final between both sides.

Head coach Eric Chelle opted to leave out several key players, giving opportunities to fringe and new faces to impress. One of the debutants, Femi Azeez, grabbed the headlines with a well-taken brace that powered Nigeria to victory and ended their three-game winless run against Zimbabwe.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s final encounter, Igoh Ogbu, who was solid in defence in the semifinal win, praised the team’s efforts but stressed the need for focus ahead of the final.
“It was a very tough game, especially in the second half, but we thank God for the victory. It was not easy at all”, the Slavia Prague defender said, via Footy-Africa.
“It went well in the end. The boys did well, they pushed hard and now we have to enjoy the win and focus on the next game.
“We have to keep our heads straight, keep working hard and continue doing our best because it is a privilege to play for Nigeria. Now that we are in the final, we understand what we need to do. We will recover and prepare well because the reason we came here is to win and retain the title”, Ogbu added.
