Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho may be off to a slow start at Sevilla, but former Manchester City star Nolito believes he has the potential to bring much-needed joy to the Spanish club.
Iheanacho’s initial challenges haven’t dimmed Nolito’s confidence, who urges fans to give the Nigerian international more time to adjust.
The 28-year-old joined Sevilla during the summer transfer window, bringing with him a strong reputation after stints with two Premier League champions, yet he has struggled to find his footing since his arrival in La Liga.

Iheanacho’s switch hasn’t been seamless. While he arrived in Spain as a high-profile signing, he has struggled to secure consistent game time and, when given the chance, hasn’t fully capitalised on it.
His only goals thus far came in a Copa del Rey match against fifth-division side Las Rozas, where he finally found the back of the net.
Nolito backs Iheanacho to overcome setback
However, his impact in La Liga remains limited, with a recent 11-minute appearance against Real Sociedad ending without any goal involvement.
The pressure is mounting as Sevilla’s league form falters, leading to growing criticism aimed at the Nigerian forward.

Nolito, however, believes that time and patience could unlock Iheanacho’s potential, helping him become a valuable asset for Sevilla.
Nolito, who also enjoyed spells at both Sevilla and Manchester City, has expressed optimism that Iheanacho will ultimately bring joy to the club.
In a recent interview with Orgullobiri, Nolito described his former teammate as a skilled player who currently just “lacks a bit of rhythm.”
Still, he remains confident that, with support from fans and a gradual adjustment period, Iheanacho will soon find his stride.
“He’s a good guy, and I hope he brings us some joy this year. He lacks a bit of rhythm, but I am confident that he will gradually improve. He’s a good footballer,” Nolito said.
