Nigerian teenager George Ilenikhena capped an impressive team performance with a late goal as Monaco cruised to a 4-1 victory over Union Saint-Jean in the Coupe de France.

The result sees Monaco comfortably advance to the competition's Round of 32 in what was their first-ever meeting with the lower-tier side.

Goals from Eliesse Ben Seghir and Vanderson gave Monaco a commanding lead in the first half, while Jordan Teze added a third after the break.

Despite a late response from Benjamin Tournier for the hosts, Ilenikhena sealed the win with a clinical strike in injury time.

Introduced in the 63rd minute for Breel Embolo, Ilenikhena wasted no time making his presence felt. His pace and positioning caused constant problems for the Union Saint-Jean backline.

The Lagos-born forward came close to scoring almost immediately, forcing two saves from the goalkeeper in the 64th minute and striking the post in the 73rd minute after a brilliant cross from Eliesse Ben Seghir.

However, persistence paid off for the 18-year-old in stoppage time. Latching onto a precise through ball from Jordan Teze, Ilenikhena fired a composed left-footed finish into the center of the net, marking his first Coupe de France goal for Monaco.

In just 27 minutes, he registered four shots on target and had one effort blocked. He also struck the woodwork and missed two big chances, highlighting his hunger for goals.

With 14 touches and an 80% pass accuracy (4/5), he showcased his ability to contribute in build-up play.

Despite a booking for a mistimed challenge, the Nigerian forward's energetic performance reflected his growing confidence and potential to play a larger role in Monaco’s campaign.
