Super Eagles midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is on the verge of joining Monza from Inter Milan this summer, Afrik-Foot reports.
Akinsanmiro’s future has been uncertain throughout the summer, with questions surrounding where he would play his club football next season.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Pisa, making 24 appearances across all competitions. However, Pisa decided not to activate their option to sign him permanently after failing to reach an agreement with Inter Milan, leading to his return to San Siro this summer.
There had been expectations that Akinsanmiro would be given the opportunity to impress head coach Cristian Chivu during pre-season and fight for a place in the first team.

However, fresh reports have linked him with a move to Monza, who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign and are now close to finalizing a deal with Inter.
The Biancorossi have also had to fend off competition from Bologna, who were previously interested in signing the Nigerian midfielder.
With Monza now closing in on an agreement, there are two several reasons why they are pushing to sign Akinsanmiro this summer.
Experience in Italian football
Akinsanmiro joined Inter Milan from Nigerian club Remo Stars in 2023 and has since spent the entire time playing for clubs in Italy.
Although first-team opportunities at Inter Milan were limited, he has gained valuable experience through loan spells at Sampdoria and Pisa.

Last season, he featured regularly for Pisa and was one of their standout performers despite the club’s difficult campaign, which ended with a 20th-place finish and relegation from Serie A.
That experience has made him an attractive option for Monza. Having already adapted to Italian football, Akinsanmiro would require little time to settle into the team and the demands of the league.
For a newly promoted side looking for players who can make an immediate impact, signing someone already familiar with the Italian game is a major advantage.

Inter Milan star’s versatility makes him a valuable option
Monza have returned to Serie A and are determined to avoid an immediate return to the second division.
As part of their plans, the club are looking to strengthen their midfield with players capable of offering quality and tactical flexibility. Akinsanmiro fits that profile perfectly.
While he is naturally a central midfielder, he is also comfortable playing as a defensive midfielder and can operate further forward as an attacking midfielder when needed.
His ability to perform in multiple midfield roles gives his coach greater tactical flexibility, provides depth across the squad and offers different options depending on the opposition or match situation.

Inter Milan are also keen to maintain control over Akinsanmiro’s future. As a result, they are expected to favour either a loan move or a permanent transfer that includes a buy-back clause, as they still view the Nigerian as an important part of the club’s long-term plans.
Once that final detail is resolved, Akinsanmiro is expected to complete his move to Monza and begin the next chapter of his career ahead of the new season.
