Ademola Lookman delivered a scintilating performance as Atalanta cruised to a 3-1 victory over Parma, taking them to the top of the Serie A table.

Though he faced early setbacks with two disallowed goals—one ruled out by VAR for offside in the eighth minute—the Nigerian winger persevered and scored in the 75th minute with a clinical left-footed finish following a pinpoint cross from Juan Cuadrado.

Lookman was Atalanta’s attacking catalyst, constantly creating problems for the Parma defense. He registered four shots during his 82 minutes on the pitch, two of which hit the target.

The Super Eagles forward was also a creative force, crafting four key passes and delivering seven crosses, with three finding their target. Lookman’s vision was evident as he created one big chance for his teammates and posted an expected assists (xA) value of 0.29.

In terms of ball control, Lookman maintained an 81% passing accuracy, completing 21 of 26 passes, and his touches totaled 46. Despite being fouled once and losing possession 12 times, he won two of his three ground duels and made valuable contributions in Atalanta’s build-up play.

Lookman’s goal against Parma marked his seventh in just 10 Serie A appearances this season. With an expected goals (xG) tally of 4.55, he has outperformed his expected numbers, scoring at a frequency of one goal every 97 minutes.

His contributions extend beyond goals; he has provided four assists, created six big chances, and averages nearly three key passes per game.

Lookman’s consistency has earned him a spot in the Serie A team of the week on four occasions, underlining his influence on Atalanta’s title challenge.
